Maria Poll comes from Söråker but now lives in Gothenburg. Maria works as both an architect and illustrator. For OLIKA, she has illustrated the series about the Pirates, written by Sara Berg and Karin Frimodig.
"My driving force in creation is humor and showing that people are complex and imperfect. Getting to illustrate the Pirates has been an inspiring job as I have been able to participate in creating female characters that are different from the ones we are used to seeing in pictures. More female pirates are needed.”
