Dad, mom, dad and six kids!

Axelina, Erik and Benny live together with six children, a dog and two cats. On Instagram, they spread lots of love every day and want to inspire others to dare to live. Here, Axelina talks about how they met and what is the best thing about their relationship.

What does your family look like?

Our family consists of Father Benny 38, Mother Axelina 37, and Father Erik 39 years. Then we also have 6 children, 4 of whom live at home. I have a child from before, Owen, 21, who I gave birth to at 16. Then Benny and I have 3 children together: Izabella 18, Elza 10, and Lion 7 years. Erik has a previous relationship, Alina 14 and Aaron 8 years. We also have a dog called Jussi and cats Mimmi and Maj-Björn.

How did you meet?

Me and Benny had been together for 17 years when we got to touch the thread, so to speak. There was a lot of irritation and fighting which resulted in separation, much happened in pure impulsiveness.

But all said and done, Benny moved to an apartment while I stayed in the house. After a while I met Erik and fell in love. At the same time, the irritation between me and Benny had begun to subside, love crept in again. I understood absolutely nothing. How is it even possible to have so many emotions at once. How can you be very in love and happy but at the same time unhappy, miss someone and be sad? I really didn't understand but I understood the seriousness of the fact that every day I felt worse and worse.

Benny still responded to my feelings but probably didn't understand how bad I really felt. Erik, oddly enough, comforted me, thinking it was temporary. The brain was finally just like mush, when I finally started to feel with each new day that came that I can't bear to feel like this again tomorrow. Then I realized that something had to be done. How hard can it be to choose? I was told, but how do you choose between two wonderful people that you love? They can leave me in that case because I'm not going to make a choice.

I knew what a personality match the guys were so I suggested that all 3 of us should live together. That's how it happened and what a success it was like this 2.5 years later!

What do you want to say to those who dream of living in family forms outside the norm?

Live exactly how you want. Life is too short to think about standards. Whose invention is it really what is "right" or "wrong"? Life is for living, it's not just for surviving. It's so much better to regret things you've done than things you haven't done!

What is the best thing about your relationship?

It's that every single day we have so much fun together. Our community is absolutely incredible and we have so much love. Above all, our happiness!

What does the best Saturday night look like for you?

Then during the day in winter we have been out driving scooters. When we get home, we make some pick-me-up and eat. Since we're still a bit frozen, we'll have a shower and then we'll jump into our hideous but oh so cozy pyjamas. The whole family takes their blanket to the sofa, the smell of buttered popcorn spreads in the house, the candles on the table are lit. Netflix is started and we find a fun family movie. All of us snuggling together on the couch, watching movies, eating popcorn and being grateful for life.

Something you want to tell our followers about?

Challenge yourself - stop saying you can't if you've never tried.
Dare to live outside the norm - people start talking, reveal the truth yourself. The real truth comes from yourselves. What people do is they make up their own story about things they don't dare ask but would like to create an image of it.
Believe in yourself - you are good, you are great, you are beautiful and you are good enough as you are. Those who don't appreciate you don't deserve you either. Set your own value high and trust yourself.
